About these comparisons
We compare active fixed-location corporate clinics with verified independents. Known mobile providers, non-clinical listings and duplicate records are excluded. Unverified independents are optional and are excluded by default. Missing listings and unfinished ownership verification can substantially affect the comparison, especially in small areas.
Areas with no selected listings are grey; this does not mean there are no veterinary practices there. The rankings default to at least ten listings. The counts describe listed locations, not revenue, prices, appointment availability or market share.
Population rates divide current clinic listings by official 2024 population estimates. Geographic boundaries are US counties and county equivalents (2024), Canadian census divisions (2021) and UK local authorities (December 2024). Coordinates outside a matching local boundary are disclosed separately and remain in the national overview. We do not move practice pins to force a match.
Operating groups are shown as recorded brands, which may share an ultimate owner. General-practice and specialty/ER comparisons need further classification work and are not included here. Full dataset methodology.
Population and boundary sources
- US Census Bureau: 2024 counties (1:500,000 cartographic boundaries) — 2024 boundaries, including Connecticut planning regions. Generalized coastlines; unmatched points are disclosed, never snapped to a nearby county.
